We just used Defy Brightener and Extreme Wood Stain for the first time and we are very pleased with the results. The brightener did just what it said it would, and the finish of the stain is far beyond any we have used before. Applying it with the car wash brush as suggested in the video worked great. I am recommending this product to all my friends.
I bought this to refinish/refresh our redwood deck after about 3 years of harsh (all-day, mostly unshaded) California sun. We had used Defy Extreme before, but I hadn't cleaned and refreshed it when I should have. I had also cut the stain by 1/3 with clear stain, which probably(?) cut down on UV resistance. The result of *this* refinishing is superb. Since there was still some stain in the deck, it went on fairly easily. In the areas that weren't so badly abused, the second coat was not needed so much, so it's important to wipe down any stain that beads up. I just "skated" with some towel scraps under my shoes after the stain had had a few minutes to soak in. Since I had some stain left, I stained a section of fence that, as far as I know, had never been finished. Even with cleaner and brightener, I couldn't get it completely clean - not even close. However, the Defy stain covered it really well and it looks fantastic. I have one strong recommendation: Don't wait until June to do it. The sun makes the work hot and annoying, you *must not* put the stain on when the deck is warm. Drips will be permanently visible unless you feather them out them instantly.
Defy Extreme redwood stain was easy to work with and went on smoothly. Two coats left a great natural looking redwood finish. We used both brushes and rollers. Tool cleanup was easy but the hardest cleanup part was drips on nearby concrete and asphalt. DTEP shipped quickly and the price included shipping. We'll be monitoring to see how it stands up to our redwood forest environment.
