DEFY Extreme Wood Stain Butternut gal

We purchased this item because it was listed as one of the top 3 deck stains and of the 3, it was the only water-based stain. However, don't be fooled! We needed paint thinner to get the stain off of our bodies! Soap and water did not work. Also, in retrospect we should have used a foam brush in between the boards in the cracks. I used a regular paintbrush, thinking the stain was covering enough of the inside of the boards, but now that everything is dry, we see that we should have paid more attention to that detail. We will be calling the company to see what their recommendations are for fixing that issue now that the stain is all dried. We were pleased with how the rain water beaded up on the boards after that first rain. It was exactly what we wanted to see.

I decided to stain my elevated deck with cover without assistance. I soon found it was too much of a project for an old man. I applied the Defy Extreme Butternut with a brush and finally finished the job after many hours in the sun. The treated pine lumber soaked up the first coat which was followed by a quick wet only second coat. Drying took only a few minutes. During this project it rained during the evening hours. The next morning puddles of water had formed on the deck and no water had penetrated the stain. I used six gallons of the Butternut stain to complete the project and like the end results. Even though the stain is water based and drops can be removed with water, do not wait long before removing them or you will have a problem. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

Applied well as rated. Very pleased, now need to see how it holds up.

We moved into a new house, where everything but the deck had been kept up beautifully. After using DEFY Extreme Wood Stain in the Butternut finish, the deck is as nice as the rest of our house. I would NEVER use anything else to stain our deck. Wonderful product that does what it says it will do.

I am 70 years old and tackled our deck, lattice, and my 10 large planting boxes. I used the DEFY Extreme and the job went much easier than I thought, but most importantly, it looks great, feels great, and has puddled up the rain showing me the protection it is giving my old...now new looking...deck. I would recommend this highly.

I will not purchase any product other than DEFY for my deck stain. I chose butternut semi-transparent and my deck lasted a solid two years with full sun starting at noon. I just re-stained and it looks WONDERFUL! Also, DEFY's customer service has been top-notch for me.

I used this stain on my new creek bridge and wood for my flower bed and it is beautiful. It goes on easily and drys fast. Received the stain shortly after I ordered. Excellent customer service. This is my second purchase of this product and I will continue to use. Highly recommend this product.

I have an 17 year old deck that was never stained. I used defy cleaner, brightener (made the wood that honey new color) and Extreme stain. I am so very pleased with the results. All were easy applications. The stain is a rich brown. Water beads on the surface in puddles!

I used 6 gallons on a 17x30 25 year old Pine deck. It came out fabulous. Allot of hard work power washing and cleaning but the deck now looks brand new. We got caught in the rain after the 1st coat and waited two days to put on the second coat -- which I thought might be an issue - but it was not. The boards took the second coat. I did wipe off any that did not seem to be penetrating. LOVE the color -- used Butternut. I'll check back in next summer to let you know if it is holding up...I sure hope so because it was a tremendous amount of work.
